• 3 ATM, 3 bar and 30m all mean the same rating: protection from splashes and rain only, not swimming.
• 5 ATM (50m) copes with everyday handwashing; about 100m is the minimum for swimming. Even then, avoid hot water, soap and steam, which can damage seals.
